Lonely Planet Review
Hotel Horizon is a solid budget choice in southern Thamel. It's just off the main commercial street, making it a quieter option than most in this central part of town and there's a wide range of rooms to suit most budgets.
There are two main blocks; the older with cheaper rooms to the left of the reception and the new block to the right housing the deluxe rooms. All rooms come with a bathroom and most are bright and spacious. There are also some communal seating areas, either on the roof or on balconies near the rooms. There's also a tiny shaded garden and space for parking should you be crazy enough to drive into central Thamel. The mid-priced rooms are the best value; pay more than this and you are really just paying for a bathtub. This budget backpacker place optimistically boasts 'discounts for UN staff and diplomats', but it's hard to imagine bumping into Kofi Annan rinsing out his socks on the shared balcony.
