Lonely Planet Review
At eight storeys, the Hotel Tradition is probably the tallest in central Thamel and is a solid, well-run lower mid-range option. The views from the sixth-floor terrace restaurant are sensational.
The rooms here are comfortable and well-furnished, though some can be a bit small and you might find yourself walking up to the sixth floor several times a day. To be honest, with all the nearby cafes and restaurants in Thamel, you probably won't be spending much time in your room. If you need a bit of space, the top-floor terrace garden is a superb spot for breakfast or a cold beer at the end of the day and food prices are very reasonable. The hotel has some nice decorative touches, including the oil-brick decoration in the Newari-style lobby, and the staff are great. The location on the snaking Saathghumti (Seven Turns) road puts you in the heart of Thamel but on a quiet side street.
