Lonely Planet Review
The Malla Hotel is a top-end place right on the edge of Thamel, so you can have your cake and then go and eat in Thamel, a five-minute walk away. Who says rich people don't buy cheap CDs? Rooms are modern and comfortable, which is either reassuringly familiar or anaemically bland according to your taste. There's air-con/heating, cable TV, minibar and a choice of either pool or garden views.
Club rooms get you a dedicated club lounge and extra touches like a shaving mirror and hairdryer. This isn't top notch style but it is comfortable, quiet and central and the superb garden comes complete with a mini-stupa and even a peacock enclosure. There are Chinese, Indian, Italian and French restaurants and a cafe. The pool, garden and access to nearby comfort food and video cafes mean this is a good choice for anyone with kids. There are special deals for month-long apartment stays.
