Lonely Planet Review
The relaxing garden here may not quite be nirvana but after a couple of hours' shopping in Thamel, it is the closest thing you'll find to bliss. This hotel is a relaxing refuge in the heart of the Thamel action.
The shops, restaurants, trekking shops, bookstores, Internet cafes and bakeries of Kathmandu's Thamel district feels like backpackers' Disneyland. After a few hours you'll need a break from the hustlers and motorcyclists. The real draw of the Nirvana Garden Hotel is that you can take a couple of hours' break and still be walking distance to dinner or your laundry pick-up. The rooms themselves are clean, comfortable and fresh. The deluxe rooms with private balcony are the ones to opt for (ask for a garden view) and offer great mid-range value. The standard rooms in the main building are much smaller but come with air-con; all other mod cons are standard.
