Lonely Planet Review
You can't go wrong at this well-run and popular Tibet Guest House in the lower-middle bracket. Its convenient location adds to the appeal. Like many hotels in Kathmandu, the Tibet Guest House is run by a family from Manang, in the Annapurna region, which is perhaps one reason why it's particularly popular with trekking groups.
Luckily, there are plenty of nooks and crannies to find your own space amongst the kit bags and piles of trekking poles. The 91 rooms are well-maintained, comfortable and there's a wide spread of room types; the deluxe rooms are very spacious. There's a lovely ground floor breakfast patio and the superb views of Swayambhunath from the rooftop garden just cry out to be appreciated at sunset with a cold beer. The cheapest 'normal' rooms are in a separate annexe block across the road and aren't up to much. Don't confuse this hotel with the Tibet Hotel up in the northern Lazimpat district.
