This straightforward high-rise hotel offers rooms fronting Jl Tunku Abdul Rahman (TAR) or ones tucked away from the bustle (windowless but by no means cell-like). Groups and families are welcomed with a choice of larger rooms and suites.

As the hotel's brochure says: 'Like a demure lady, Kowloon Hotel stands in midst of Kuala Lumpur's strategic business hub surrounded by shopping malls, commercial and banking facilities.' So true, but what's with the lady? All rooms are fitted with a TV and access to Vision Four (four films daily) as well as a bar and air-con. There's a wide choice of bedding permutations: single, double, double and single, two doubles, etc. This place is popular with families who camp out in their rooms, planning their sorties to nearby shops like Globe Silk and Sogo Department Store. Kids under 12 stay at the hotel for free. The basement restaurant offers good-value meals when the Little India market seems too far away.
