This funky 15-bed private hostel is a fun place to chill and meet fellow travellers (though it could be cleaner). Casinos are just a mile away, and the party often continues back at Doug's.You'll feel like you're in the hostel-keepers' home rather than a hostel sometimes - doors are left unlocked, and staff and guests mingle so you don't know who's who (this can be good and bad!) Tahoe beaches and trailheads are close by, and you're a 20-minute walk from downtown and the casinos. It's definitely a party pad, and there are few rules, unlike at your usual chain hostels. But if this is your kind of scene, you'll want to stay awhile. Be warned: the bathrooms could use some deep cleaning. Four-bed female dorms and 6-bed mixed dorms are available; linens and towels are included. Guests can whip up simple meals in the kitchen.
