Expect no frills at this simple but welcoming Turkish Cypriot-run guesthouse in Laiki Yitonia. Rooms are microscopic but all have air-con, hot showers, fridges, kettles and TVs. You can take the optional breakfast on the roof looking over the old city. Tony's has been around for so long it has become part of the Lefkosia architecture. Upstairs above a Turkish cafe (the smell of shisha smoke hits you before you see the signboard), this rustic guest house has never promised the height of luxury. What it offers instead is cheap, clean rooms in a great location - just metres from Lidras St and the meze restaurants of Laiki Yitonia. Be warned though: you'll have to drag your luggage through pedestrianised streets to get here (time to invest in a trolley-bag perhaps?).
