Lonely Planet Review

Quotes Popular with budget travel and student groups. The fairly standard Chinese-style rooms are spacious and clean, though only the top-floor rooms get much natural light. Standard rooms come with a bathroom, while the cheaper doubles share a bathroom down the hall. Head to the rooftop for fine views over the Old Town. The restaurant offers good breakfasts (try the breakfast burrito) and a full range of Nepali dishes. For a small fee the staff will even teach you how to make momos (traditional Tibetan-style dumplings)! Nice touches include live music on the weekends and weekly English movies (both rare in Lhasa). The hotel is on Ramoche Lam, which is pedestrian only during the day, so you get a break from the traffic noise.

Author Tip

Just step out the front door to explore Ramoche Lam, Lhasa's most interesting street, with its stalls offering everything from horse saddles to holy Tibetan texts. Tour the Ramoche Temple, just a few minutes' walk away, and share a plate of momos (traditional Tibetan-style dumplings) with the monks at the monastery restaurant just by the entrance.
