Lonely Planet Review
The clean and secure Hotel Alemán has exceptionally spacious rooms with colonial furnishings, private bathrooms, cable TV, telephones, large desks and minifridges. It gives discounts for long stays and to business travellers; rates include an excellent buffet breakfast.
A hybrid of a traditional guesthouse and a small hotel, the Hotel Alemán offers a true taste of Peru, but with modern conveniences. Located off a busy intersection at the north end of Miraflores, it's surprisingly peaceful inside. There are just over two dozen rooms on the property, which has a sundeck terrace and a charming Art Deco tile entryway. Since it has been in operation for over three decades, some of the decor sorely needs updating. But what sets the place apart is its devotion to personal service, whether you need a pickup at the airport, to arrange a tour or rent office equipment (including Internet terminals). While the Hotel Alemán caters to package tourists, small groups and individual travellers are also well taken care of.

Author Tip
It's a short walk west of the hotel to Huaca Pucllana, an adobe pyramidal structure of the ancient Lima culture that dates back to AD 500. Though vigorous excavations continue, it's open to regular guided tours (in Spanish) and there's a tiny museum and upscale dinner restaurant on site.
