Lonely Planet Review
While there may be more popular backpacker guesthouses in town, this spic-and-span place on the edge of Miraflores is a notch above average. Clean dorms, super-modern facilities and a secure entrance, make for a comfy crash pad, especially for travellers seeking a more restful atmosphere.
Situated away from the hubbub of Miraflores' main drags, but easily within walking distance of dozens of restaurants, shops and cafés, the Inka Lodge is a pristine escape from the backpacker scene. Aptly named, it's decorated throughout with reminders of Peru's most famous ancient empire, from woven wall hangings to patterned dishware and an Andean soundtrack drifting through the halls. White-walled private rooms and the mixed and single-sex dormitories have a stark minimalism (watch out for those hard dorm beds). Everything else you need, they've got: air-conditioning, cable TV, 24-hour hot water, common kitchen, luggage storage and Internet access. There's a rooftop terrace for chilling out, and the staff are more than happy to dispense travel advice. Rates include all-you-can-eat continental breakfast, unlimited coffee and filtered water. Airport pick-ups can be arranged.

Author Tip
It's a short, half-mile walk north of the hostel to Huaca Pucllana, an adobe pyramidal structure of the ancient Lima culture that dates back to AD 500. Though vigorous excavations continue, it's open to regular guided tours (in Spanish) and there's a tiny museum and an upscale dinner restaurant on site. Take a taxi at night.
