Lonely Planet Review
A loyal following is attracted to this family-run hotel which has been plushly renovated in an old-fashioned style, right down to the suit of armour in the lobby and the comfy bar. There's also a rooftop area - a rarity in central Madrid - that makes a nice spot for breakfast on a sunny day.
Even better, the rooms on the top floors have large terraces where you could easily pull up a chair and look down upon Madrid's seemingly endless streams of pedestrians. If we have one complaint, it's that the rooms lack the character of the public spaces - they're well-appointed and comfortable, but more functional than filled with charm. Like other hotels in these traffic-free streets, this place suffers daytime noise from shoppers, which is infinitely preferable to the night-time bustle of the bar crowds. You're also as central as you could want and surrounded by the best that Madrid has to offer.
