Lonely Planet Review
The latest and most stylish addition to Marrakesh's elite hotels is hotelier Jonathan Wix's Riad Farnatchi. Modern design and comfort have finally arrived in the medina. Originally intended as a bolt-hole for family and friends, it retains its private house feel while delivering glamorous, world-class service.
The ultra-modern custom-designed furnishings are impressive and notice0ably comfortable - the beds have been hand-made and the black fossilised stone tubs make Carrera marble look pedestrian. What's more clever is that skylights eliminate the dark corners that plague nearly ever traditional riad (town house), while heavy doors ensure a hushed quietude in all the suites. But decor aside, what really counts is the impeccable service provided by the experienced manageress, Lynn. Personal shopping, customised itineraries, meals and massages on demand, reservations and rides any place, any time. At the luxe level, gracious, attentive service should be a given, but this is really above and beyond the call of duty. What you're paying for at the Farnatchi is not just a pretty hotel room but a glamorous experience that should fit you like a glove.
