Lonely Planet Review
After a hot dusty day in the medina, what could be better than coming home to your very own spa? Essentially, that's what Riad Mehdi is, a spa complex with the addition of nine comfortable rooms where you can slouch off to collapse after your mint-and-orange-blossom milk massage.
If truth be told, the four standard rooms in the spa courtyard are not as stylish as many other places. More preferable are the suites overlooking the handsome pool and facing the city ramparts. They boast canopied beds and all of them have terraces where you can watch the free-wheeling storks on the battlements. The all-purple tadelakt (plaster) decorated lounge is gorgeous too. But the spa, with its fragrant concoctions of lotions and potions, oils and algae takes centre stage. Not only can you indulge in the traditional Moroccan hammam (bathhouse) at any time of the day, but also a whole range of modern massage, shiatsu, body wraps and baths. The well-trained staff are consummate professionals and quietly glide about the riad (town house) always at the ready to pat the street-stressed brows of homecoming guests.
