The smartest mid-range hotel at the domestic airport, Bawa International offers free airport transfers, but you could easily walk to the check-in desks. You may need sunglasses for the brightly coloured rooms but facilities are excellent and the beds are piled with soft cushions.

Don't be put off by the chintzy Egyptian ornaments in the lobby - the Bawa International is easily the smartest of the dozen or so mid-range hotels near the domestic airport. The colour scheme is rather gaudy - executive rooms are bright green and the suites are vivid red or blue - but service is good and you can eat, drink and dance at the on-site coffee shop, restaurant, bar and disco. Decor varies from room to room, but all are comfortable and well-equipped. The main reason to stay here is the airport location but the thick-pile carpets, giant double beds and in-room snacks all add to the appeal. However, apart from the airport, there isn't much to do in the immediate area.
