Lonely Planet Review
For the ultimate in luxury, head to the ITC Grand Maratha Sheraton near Mumbai's international airport. The hotel boasts the best spa, restaurants and arguably the best interior design in Mumbai - rooms are full of sumptuous fabrics and subtle lighting. Several rooms are specially designed for the disabled.
At this price, you expect luxury, and the ITC Grand Maratha Sheraton delivers it in spades. Beds are draped in embroidered silks, the minibar is stocked with Indian wine and gourmet chocolates, and the marble bathrooms have a deep bathtub and a walk-in power shower. Housed in a handsome, dome-topped building, the hotel is full of imaginative design features like the gleaming, Mughal-inspired marble atrium. Standards are sky-high and rooms have all the mod-cons, including desktop Internet connections. The Dakshin, Pan-Asian and Peshawri restaurants serve sublime north and south Indian and Asian cuisine and the Wellness Centre is a palace for pampering. The only downside is the location - handy for the airport, but a hike from south Mumbai.

Author Tip
Save your appetite - you'll kick yourself if you leave without sampling the ITC's fabulous restaurants. Away from the hotel, you can shoe-shop in Bandra, stroll beside the sea in Juhu or soak up some history at the Kanheri, Mahakali and Jogeshwari caves.
