Quotes Plenty of helpful staff lend a homely feel to this tidy business-class hotel in the middle of Fort. Rooms have TVs, phones and air-con, and there are several Parsi cafes nearby for a lunchtime dhansak (lentil curry).

Most buildings in Fort are given over to business purposes, so it's refreshing to find a well-run hotel right in the thick of things. The Residency is spic and span, and the staff are friendly and professional. The styling is a little twee, but the bunches of fresh flowers make the hotel feel cosier than many in this price bracket and the location - ten minutes from CST station and surrounded by cafes serving cheap Parsi food - is hard to beat. Rooms are bright and well-equipped and there's free Internet access in the foyer. The surrounding area is crammed with coffee shops, restaurants and cinemas, but be warned that not much happens in the business district on Sundays.

How To Get There

It is a fair drive south from the airports through the elite western and southern suburbs. Use the Western Express Highway till Bandra. Exit the flyover left into Mahim. Use Cadel road in Dadar. Turn left and then right from the Siddhi Vinayak temple. Follow road as it meanders through Prabhadevi and Worli. Turn right at Worli junction. Follow road until Haji Ali junction. Turn right and follow onto Peddar road. Continue on till main junction. Turn left to come upon the Queen’s Necklace and follow for 6 kms. Just after the Intercontinental hotel, turn left at the Ambassador hotel. Continue past the Churchgate (left) and High Court (right) intersections to arrive at Flora Fountain. Turn left and as the road divides into two, choose the right road as it curves to CST. Pass the American Express and Standard Chartered banks on the left and Citibank to the right. Choose the first right immediately after the signal We are the first building to your left. Welcome to Residency Fort.
