Lonely Planet Review
Predictable chain-made chintz in the rooms can be forgotten if you have a terrace room, with decks overlooking the East River and the Brooklyn Bridge - it's certainly clean and comfortable, if a bit staid, but charges about half the rate of most Financial District hotels.
Up on the 6th and 7th floors of the building (a historical landmark, like the rest of South Street Seaport), rooms have doors leading out to simple decks. All 72 rooms are outfitted in the same mass-produced traditional furnishings. There are 27-inch TVs with VHS players, empty refrigerators for your beer or soy milk, free dial-up Internet access, with small desks and new mattresses. The downstairs lobby has some seating areas (if you can tolerate the lite '80s music) and a lounge with flatscreen TV, all-day tea and coffee (and cookies), and a free continental breakfast in the morning.
