Lonely Planet Review
If you don't mind tinkling down the hall, this inn, housed in a landmark brownstone in Chelsea's historic district, is a super deal. Ultra-American knick-knacks line the walls, like 'Class of 1918' photos, Indian busts, hunting duck decoys and colour prints of train scenes.
All of the 20 rooms are quite small but clean and well arranged, with wood floors, window air-con units, a small shower and sink. There are two shared toilets, with black-and-white tiled floors, per eight rooms. Other than two singles, rooms have either a double or two twins. TVs with cable are plopped on an old wooden cabinet. There are six suite rooms with private bath - two with private garden access. Down the street (at 334 W 20th St) are four more suites. On the down side, there's no public space to speak of, and staff aren't always hug-and-smile welcoming.
