Lonely Planet Review

Quotes Situated in the heart of the city, French-washed walls in shades like lavender, along with new carpet and charmingly patterned linens make the fresh, spacious rooms here a real treat. There's no lift, or parking (you'll find it two-minutes' walk away), or online computer for guests, but there is free wi-fi for laptops. Six of the rooms' brand new bathrooms have bathtubs; and two rooms have pretty little balconies just big enough for a tiny table and chairs. Breakfast (a buffet) can be taken in the blond-wood dining room accentuated by an enormous mirror gracing one wall, but better yet is the adjoining table-lined garden terrace with navy blue market umbrellas. Rates drop to budget range in the low season.

Author Tip

On the swank av de Suède down near the promenade des Anglais and the beach, Scotch Tea House (Mon-Sat 09:00-20:00) might not sound very French, but this classic, old fashioned place is where you'll find locals looking to see and be seen - as well as elegant homemade cake- and tarte-type treats.
