Lonely Planet Review

Quotes The majority of the Hôtel du Centre's 28 brightly coloured rooms have their own squeaky-clean, floor-to-ceiling tiled bathrooms, but there are also four rooms with a washbasin only and shared shower and toilets, which are an absolute steal for one or two people. The cosy rooms are packed with amenities like soundproofing, telephone, multi-language satellite TV and fridge; and there's a lift to whisk you up the floors. Free wi-fi's are already up and running in some rooms, and will be available in all imminently. And, the hotel's just opened its own Niçois- and Italian-influenced restaurant next door. It's open for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day.

How To Get There

When you leave the station, turn left and go to the end of the road where you turn right into the main street of Nice, Avenue Jean Médecin. Walk down on the right hand side, and turn right at the third turning - 2 rue de Suisse. We are just past the florist's on the corner, opposite the Church of Notre Dame. If you take the bus from the airport it stops right outside the train station and the directions are the same.

Author Tip

Stepping outside the door puts you in the heart of Nice's city centre. The main drag av Jean Medecin has a surfeit of stores and is also home to the recently overhauled Nice Etoile shopping centre, which relaunched in late 2004 and takes up a whole city block, as well as the fantastic French supermarket, Monoprix.
