Decorated in beautifully patterned and printed linens and furnishings in the colours that inspired the region's famous artists, this boutique hotel's rooms look like they've been lifted from the pages of an interior design magazine.

An open caged lift ferries you up to 46 sophisticated, spacious and sunlit rooms. Each of the rooms at this privately owned hotel centres on a single colour, like sunflower yellow or rose red, defining its striped wallpaper, checked curtains, paisley printed beds, and velvet upholstering. Colour schemes extend to the glazed ceramic tiles in the bathrooms which are also kitted out with L'Occitane's products. All rooms are graced by an ornamental (standing-width only) wrought-iron balcony. There's a business room with an online computer and printer. Public parking's nearby, but you're allowed to pull up for up to 20 minutes to drop off your luggage. Le Grimaldi occupies a full city block, with two entrances on parallel streets; one or the other's often closed in the low season.
