Lonely Planet Review
Poised in the heart of Nice's most elegant boutiques and elongated parks with splashing fountains, a gentle stroll to the promenade des Anglais and the old town, the Le Meurice is fittingly classed as a hotel de charme, with beautifully styled rooms.
Soft muslin canopies the quilted bedheads in this 1930s Art Deco-accented hotel. Fronted by a parlour of yellow and orange glass and parquet floors, Le Meurice has just 23 rooms with Provençal flair and Deco detailing, such as moulded cornices and geometric leadlights. Mod cons run the gamut of mini bars, satellite TVs, Internet access and individually controlled air-conditioning. Open all year, prices for all three categories of rooms, Elègance, Harmonie and Appartement (the latter's a misnomer, as they don't come with kitchens, though they are luxuriously spacious) drop significantly in the low season. You'll pay the same whether you breakfast in your room or in the parlour.

Author Tip
Wend through Vieux Nice's labyrinth of twisting, turning pedestrian lanes to the charming little La Table Alziari (Tue-Sat 12:0014:00 & 19:30-22:00), a tiny Provençal place with a front verandah leading inside to lime- and lemon-painted dining rooms with a changing blackboard menu of fresh regional cuisine.
