Lonely Planet Review
This former post house, from where coaches would set out for Lyon in Burgundy to the south and Mulhouse in Alsace to the east, has been a hotel since the 1920s.
In the hotel's tiled lobby a mural of Danton and Robespierre with an extract taken from the Déclaration des Droits de l'Homme et du Citoyen (Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen), the document setting forth the principles of the French Revolution, reminds guests just where they are: within spitting distance of place de la Bastille (and, for that matter, sniffing distance of the fabulous Marché Bastille on blvd Richard Lenoir). The 40 guestrooms, though not particularly special, are comfortable, quiet and of a good size. Eschew rooms looking onto to busy blvd Beaumarchais in favour of ones looking onto either of two courtyards. Room 12, with two double beds, a separate toilet and a door leading to a courtyard, is a good choice.

Curious Fact
Until 1968, the building next door to the hotel at No 10 housed the celebrated Pacra concert hall, the Olympia of its day and the place where indomitable crooner Charles Aznavour (1924-), 'the Frank Sinatra of France', made his debut.
