Lonely Planet Review

Quotes In the shadow of the capital's largest secular mausoleum and just up the hill from the Jardin du Luxembourg, the 'Pantheon Hotel' is an attractive 36-room property that feels more 'deluxe' than 'top end'.

The rooms are, in a word, elegant and decorated in the Louis XVI style: fabrics on the walls, antique furniture and painted woodwork. Some of the upper rooms have balconies that look straight onto the Pantheon; the alternative is a leafy courtyard. The vaulted breakfast room below reception is particularly attractive. Rates vary widely according to the season. The hotel is air-conditioned and there are rooms suitable for handicapped guests.

Just down from the hotel is Perraudin (157 rue St-Jacques, 5e), a traditional French restaurant that hasn't changed much in style or in what it serves since the late 19th century.

Curious Fact

The first woman to be interred in the Panthéon was the two-time Nobel Prize-winner Marie Curie (1867-1934), who was re-buried here in 1995.
