Lonely Planet Review

Quotes If you are someone who likes style of the traditional variety, choose this lovely 21-room hotel just west of the Louvre and opposite the Église St-Germain l'Auxerrois. The hotel is air-conditioned throughout.

The 10 rooms facing the street and the church (and, if you really crane your neck, the colonnade at the Palais du Louvre) at the 'Louvre Coaching Inn' are on the petite side. Room No 1 is on two levels just off the small back garden, though it does not have access to it. Its neighbour, No 2, actually leads on to the garden but is smaller. There are two family rooms (christened junior suites here) on the 5th floor; on the 6th floor a large 60 sq m (645 sq ft) apartment with cooking facilities is suitable for longer stays. Décor is classic and cosy and maybe even a little, well, English.

Author Tip

If you're this close there's absolutely no excuse not to visit the Louvre, a place so big and overwhelming it is probably the most actively avoided museum in the world.

Curious Fact

Due to its proximity to the Palais du Louvre, the Église St-Germain l'Auxerrois was the parish church of France's kings and queens for centuries.
