Simple budget place with a popular open-air bar and restaurant at the front, and 16 quite plain but clean and comfortable rooms. Breakfast is included in the price.

One of the better, and more popular, budget beach places out at Batu Ferringhi, Ali's offers a good choice of rooms in a traditional old wooden house just a few steps away from the sand. There's a pleasant, palm-filled garden at the front, a TV lounge downstairs and a convivial bar. The rooms vary in size and arrangement and are simply furnished, but clean and full of sunlight. Some have TVs and private bathroom, others have shared facilities, while for those long, lazy evenings there's a sea-facing veranda with a few chairs.
