Lonely Planet Review
At the western, and quieter, end of Batu Ferringhi beach, this is a gigantic place set in attractive palm-filled gardens. It has everything you could wish for, including a water-sports centre, squash courts, shops and bars.
The Bayview Beach Resort is a huge chain hotel set on a lovely stretch of sand away from the main shopping and restaurant strip. This is a quieter area, but still, this is no remote hideaway, and with 366 rooms, it's a lively, full-scale chain resort. There's a wide variety of room types on offer, with sea-view rooms costing a bit more. All are of a decent size and furnished in a bright, contemporary style. The facilities here are second to none, with a stunning swimming pool sporting a bar in its middle, a spa centre, kids' club, tennis courts and several restaurants.

Author Tip
There's plenty going on in the resort itself and a lovely beach to lie about on, but the restaurants and bars of Batu Ferringhi are just a 10-minute walk away. Around 2km (1.2mi) west is the Tropical Spice Garden, a pleasant, themed botanic garden and a little further again is the entrance to Penang National Park.
