Banyan Tree hotels are well known in Asia, and this one maintains the high standards for which they've become known. The overall decor and theme might be termed 'Slick Siamese', with palace-like Thai-style buildings and glittery murals on the bedroom walls that depict ancient Thailand as a once-upon-a-time fairyland.

Spread out over a lushly landscaped piece of land, the Banyan Tree Phuket is located on the edge of the so-called Laguna Phuket Complex, a group of five high-end hotels that are situated on this bay. All of these hotels share a golf course, as well as spas and myriad restaurants. The location makes it feel a bit more intimate and less busy than its sometimes overwhelming neighbours. Depending on how much you are willing to spend, you'll find that rooms can come with every luxury, including villas with their own private swimming pools. The spa is considered one of the best in the country.
