Lonely Planet Review
This so-called hostel is really more of an apartment-style hotel right in the thick of things on Soi Saen Sabai, a lane filled with bars and restaurants that, in the evenings, are crowded with noisy revellers.
This four-storey building is a typical Thai row building with almost no charm or atmosphere; it's the location that you get here, and if you haven't come to party then you should look elsewhere. Rooms are clean, box-like and sometimes windowless (the better to sleep off hangovers late into the day), with glazed tiled floors and unadorned walls. Attached bathrooms are very small but everything works and is reasonably clean. There is also a bank of lockers where you can keep your valuables while out on the town - not a bad idea. Despite the lack of atmosphere, Crown Hostel is often booked solid due to its reasonable rates and central location in the party zone. This is the type of place that advertises 'no extra charge for double occupancy', a euphemism that means you won't get charged extra if you bring a 'guest' back to the room.

Author Tip
Party till you pass out along nearby Th Bangla, one of Thailand's most raucous thoroughfares. Sleep it off on the beach or in your room. For good, cheap Thai food, head to the basement food court of Jung Ceylon shopping mall - plus you can linger in the air-con.
