This friendly and lively place is located in a festively coloured shophouse in the heart of the booming village on Hat Karon. Despite the name, you don't have to be a confirmed drinker to stay here, but there is a cosy little bar that will make you wish you were - its menu claims fluency in 100 cocktails.

Once you've settled on a cocktail, sit out in front where there are a couple of tables at which to watch the world go by. Upstairs, beyond the bar are 15 above-average rooms with the ubiquitous glazed tile floors and warmly panelled hardwood walls. It's a solid-walled place where you won't hear the neighbour's TV, although there is a tiny bit of ambient noise from the street. Of course, if you choose to stay here in town vice at one of the hillside places of accommodation, the trade off is a wide selection of food and drinking possibilities. This establishment is Swiss-managed, and popular with middle-aged German speakers.
