Lonely Planet Review

Quotes Just north of Camping Chowk, Blue Heaven is a monumental blue building that gets the best of the views by being taller than all its neighbours. It's not the most sensitive development, but it's a favourite with Indian travellers and rooms are very snug.

Few places in Lakeside can compete with Hotel Blue Heaven for rooftop views - not least because it stands one floor higher than all its neighbours. If you like modern facilities, professional service and rooms with a view, this is an excellent choice; if you prefer something small and personal, you might be better off staying elsewhere on the lakeshore. Many guests come on package tours from India and you can get excellent Indian meals on room service. However, there are always children playing in the corridors - something to consider if you like to sleep late in the morning. Rooms are grand and spacious and rates increase with the quality of the view. For the full panoramic vista, head up to the terrace on the fifth floor.

Author Tip

Order a morning chai (Indian tea) on room service and admire the view before stretching your legs with a stroll along the lakeshore. Taxis at nearby Camping Chowk offer trips to the viewpoint at Sarangkot, the Mahendra and Bat Caves and other attractions around Pokhara, or you can cycle to Old Pokhara to explore the winding streets, museums and temples.
