Lonely Planet Review

Quotes The Admirál floating hotel is one of Prague's bigger and better 'botels', with compact, well-designed rooms, though they are perhaps a little overpriced for what you get. It also has its own deck restaurant with great river views.

If you've ever harboured a desire to sleep in a real ship's cabin, but would rather do without the seasickness, then climb aboard the Admiral, a permanently berthed, spruced-up old vessel floating quietly off the west bank of the Vlatava. Since being decommissioned, the Admiral has undergone a thorough overhaul, and offers one of Prague's more unusual accommodation options. The reception area, with its plush leather seating and its polished wood and brass, has a smart nautical feel, with narrow corridors leading towards the rooms. These cabins are what you might expect: simple, compact and functional rather than luxurious, although all have satellite TV, and those facing the river have an attractive outlook. Cabins facing the dock have a pretty drab view. The en suites, with shower, are tiny.

Author Tip

Smíchov is hardly tourist central, but the famous Staropramen Brewery and its restaurant, Na Verandách, is less than 10min west, and the huge Nový Smíchov mall, with 150 shops and a multiplex, is even closer. A few minutes north, Palackého most crosses the river to Nové Mêsto, where more of the traditional sights are within easy reach.
