Lonely Planet Review

Quotes With rooms ranged around a balcony overlooking a peaceful courtyard, the Tchaikovsky is one of the more appealing of Prague's new, small hotels. The spacious rooms have stylish Italian furniture, and reception is staffed 24 hours a day.

Lurking down a quiet side street off busy Jecná, this neat little hotel has 19 restful double rooms, which all offer the possibility of adding an extra bed (at an extra charge) if desired. The vaguely 19th-century style is maintained throughout, with rich drapery, floral fabrics and antique-style furnishings, while amenities such as satellite TVs and minibars are welcome modern comforts. The attractively tiled bathrooms (tubs and showers provided) are bright, well equipped and spotless. Although the hotel is named in honour of the great Russian composer, the connection with him is pretty tenuous; apparently he used to enjoy walking in the general area in the company of Dvorák during his visits to Prague.

Author Tip

The Tchaikovsky is just a minute or two from the busy main street of Jecná, with several bars and restaurants, including the smart microbrewery, Pivovarský Dum. About 10 minute west is the big Charles Sq park, while 10 minute east is the heart of Vinohrady, which is full of top class eateries.
