Lonely Planet Review

Quotes Just round the corner from the metro station and hovering on the vague border area between Nové Mêsto and Vinohrady, Hotel Tyl enjoys a great location, far enough from the tourist centre to avoid most of the noise and crowds, but still within walking distance. The grand, five-storey 19th-century building recently underwent a refit, and retains that fresh 'just opened' ambience. Rooms are clean and spacious, decorated with chintzy fabrics and dark wood 'antique-style' furniture, plus the usual three-star mod cons. Some rooms have a couple of armchairs and a little table where you can sip your morning coffee. Facilities include a coffee bar with Internet access and a small 'fitness centre'. If you just feel like chilling in the fresh air instead, the leafy little park right outside, with its fountain and flowerbeds, is full of benches where locals linger over their newspapers.

How To Get There

We do offer a service of transportation from and to the airport. The cost of the transport from the airport, or to it, is 650 CZK , (Czech crowns - approximately 15 GBP / 25 EUR / 28 USD). In alternative to this, you could rely on the public transportation, that is definitely a cheaper way to arrive at the hotel but somehow a little bit less easy and comfortable: You have to buy a 20 CZK ticket, and then look for the bus 119 stop that is in front of the arrival and take this bus. The last stop of the bus 119 is DEJVICKA, and there there is the line A (green line) subway station. Take the train in the only direction you are allowed to take, it is in fact the terminal station and leave in MUZEUM and change line C (red line) and head for I.P.Pavlova ( the next station ) and here you are; we are in Tylovo nam. near KFC. The main railway station (Hlavni Nadrazi, hl.n.) as well as the Bus terminal (ÚAN Florenc ) are not far with the line C direction Haje; leave in I.P.Pavlova.

Author Tip

The hotel is just a 10min walk from the National Museum at the bottom of Wenceslas Sq, and there are several restaurants, fast-food outlets and late-opening bars nearby. Bohemia Bagel Express on the corner is a good place to grab a quick breakfast. Ten minutes to the east is lively Vinohrady. Popular bar/restaurants within easy walking distance here include Cheers and Bumerang.
