Lonely Planet Review

Quotes The rooms on the first floor feature wood floors, high ceilings, and have a light and airy feel. There's no air-con, and you'll have shared bathrooms and showers. Basement rooms have less light, but have air-con and private bathrooms. For the ambience we prefer upstairs; if you can't take the heat, you'll want a downstairs suite. The best part of this place, however, is the large private garden behind the house. Here you'll find an open-air kitchen available for guest use, lush vegetation and relaxing nooks for curling up with a book or dozing in a hammock. From time to time, tiny monkeys make their appearance in the trees (hint: they like bananas).

Author Tip

Don't miss the lively neighborhood bar scene happening around Largo do Guimarães. Unfortunately, security is an issue, so the safest time to go is on Friday and Saturday nights when live music and a fun crowd are usually on offer.
