Lonely Planet Review
Thanks to its photogenic look - rooms are brightly and individually coloured - this excellent hostel-cum-hotel makes frequent appearances in guidebooks and magazines. But it offers more than jazzy colours - there's a laundry, a tiny terrace adjoining the fully-equipped kitchen, Internet and a personable, English-speaking staff.
Beds are in dorms or private rooms, some with private showers/toilets. The fact that there's no illuminated sign outside is in keeping with Colors' low-key charm and discreet location. In fact, if you weren't staying here you'd probably never visit this quiet residential area. Within easy walking distance of St Peter's Basilica it's a laid-back place that appeals to discerning travellers of all ages - young backpackers can bunk down in the pristine dorms while older couples might prefer the double rooms. Party animals may find the hippy chic colour scheme - lime greens, tangerines, bright reds and deep purples - a bit much early in the morning. Everywhere is as clean as a whistle and very welcoming. The only gripe - the hostel is on the 4th floor and there's no lift. New rooms are planned for the 3rd floor.
