Lonely Planet Review
With a multitude of sleeping options from dorm beds to deluxe doubles, Des Artistes is a place for all budgets. Run by an enthusiastic young couple, it has rooms decked out in wood and gold, with faux-antique furniture and three-star trappings such as satellite TV and Internet connections.
A warm welcome, the decent rooms and a happy chatty atmosphere are what make this hotel a winner. It's not flash - the small public spaces are neat rather than ornate - and its owners are more friendly than formal. The rooms, while spacious, comfortable and full of mod cons, are like many others across the city, and the location (near Termini) is more convenient than compelling. On the 2nd floor, hostel dorm beds are available (18 to 35 year olds only), while families should opt for the four-, five- and six-person rooms. The only people not catered to are smokers, who'll have to adjourn to the roof terrace to enjoy a drag.
