Lonely Planet Review
This charming little hotel is proof that size isn't everything. It has five stylish rooms decorated with a simplicity that perfectly suits the original 17th-century building. The tight corridors are lined with photos of cheeky street urchins while the picturesque garden terrace is a wonderful spot for a siesta.
A hidden pearl not two metres from the vibrant centre of Trastevere, this feels more like a guesthouse than a hotel. For one thing you have to buzz to get in, for another its size means that the English-speaking staff can really look after you - their recommendations are well worth a listen. Housed in a tastefully renovated palazzo originally built over Roman ruins, it's a model of understated elegance. Rooms reveal a monastic look with white walls and earth-coloured floor tiles, a minimum of wooden furniture and a delightful lack of annoying bric-a-brac. Bathrooms are clean and modern - the power showers an added bonus. Despite its location, close to Piazza Santa Maria - and the consequent late-night noise - it's better suited to couples than party-goers.
