Lonely Planet Review

Quotes By far the smartest offering in the old city this brand new four-star hotel is housed in a renovated (read completely reconstructed) tower house. Fortunately the renovations have been done with care and thought and the result is a delightful mix of Yemeni joie de vivre and European sophistication. The small standard rooms are well presented with large windows, heavy wooden furniture and stone floors. The suites, on the upper floors, are similarly decked out and big enough to get totally lost in. The tacky paintings are a feature most could do without, however. The big draw of this hotel are the arresting views which get bigger and better the higher in the building you climb and finally culminate in an ocean of terracotta reds and whites in the finest mafraj (sitting room) in San'a.

Author Tip

Though this hotel is situated right in the heart of the old town it will prove very hard to tear yourself away from the rooftop coffee shop, where entire days could easily pass by as you sit sipping on a glass of spicy Yemeni tea and spying on shoppers going about their daily business far below you.
