Lonely Planet Review
Though not particularly fancy, the Business Inn Norte is far enough away from the station that it often has rooms available when everywhere else is booked, but it's still within walking distance of Susukino and the subway. Rooms are small, but not microscopic, and free Internet in the lobby makes this place a nice option for penny-pinchers.
The Business Inn Norte and sister hotel Rio (separated only by a rather funereal velvet curtain near the elevator) offer inexpensive rooms and free LAN. Single rooms are small, but the beds are larger than in some competing hotels, and mineral water, refrigerators and hot-water pots are also included. A free continental breakfast is an added perk. Staff are friendly, though no English is spoken, so travellers should have a dictionary on hand for any complicated requests. No nonsmoking rooms are available at this time.

Author Tip
Lit lovers should check out the nearby Hokkaido Museum of Literature, right next to Nakajima Park. From there, meander through the grounds of the park or head over to the river for a stroll. In the evening, you're not too far from Susukino to hit Ramen Alley for a bowl of noodles.
