Now spruced up after extensive refurbishment, the Hilton remains popular with business travellers and overseas tour groups. The rooms are spacious and have broadband. Other facilities extend to an indoor swimming pool, tennis and squash courts, and a wi-fi internet zone in the hotel lobby. Staff are courteous and efficient. Tense business travellers can dissolve away the stress in the excellent hotel spa. Discounts are a measly 10-percent here.

Dining options are plentiful, including People on the Water, a Níngbo seafood restaurant in the basement, and Sìchuan and Italian restaurants.
