Quotes Book-ended by an HSBC and a Bank of China, this impressive twin-towered five-star hotel possesses a colossal and expansive lobby and some of the best gym and sports facilities in Shanghai.

The occasional faded brasswork around the lobby area takes some of the shine off the opulence, but the ceiling is magnificent and the scale is quite breathtaking - dwarfing even - with grand staircases leading off to either side. Potted trees add welcome splashes of green to the highly buffed marble effect of the lobby and acres of carpet. The recently refurbished modern guestrooms are attractive and well equipped, with all you need to enjoy your stay in this southwest corner of the French Concession. The hotel also incorporates the Shanghai International Tennis Centre, a bowling alley in the basement, a variety of fine dining options and a small branch of Shanghai Book Traders. The Regal provides good wheelchair access and the 24hr HSBC ATM comes in handy for funding meals and drinks at nearby bars.
