Lonely Planet Review
Run by the owners of the ever-expanding range of 'Temple' drinking establishments in Bar Street, the modern Golden Temple Villa combines some of the party atmosphere with a healthy dose of comfort. And the location, a few minutes' walk west of Psar Chaa, makes it ideal for night owls.
The newly built villa has been designed with some thought, with all rooms having windows and a generous amount of communal space leading onto the balconies. But while the 38 rooms are tastefully fitted out considering the price (check the wood-trim and Khmer patterned bed covers), the marketing blurb '4 Star Accommodation at 2 Star Rates' is probably overstating the case just a fraction. All rooms have cable TV, hot water, secure and screened windows and a startlingly strong orange fragrance. Some of the more expensive rooms have a private balcony and twins come with a tub. Service is laid-back but efficient enough, and guests get 10 minutes of free Internet time. For all its comforts, though, perhaps the most notable feature is the bar-cum-restaurant, which is a great place to meet other travellers and form a posse before heading to Bar Street.
