Lonely Planet Review

Quotes Host Enkhee keeps things simple here with two dorm rooms. It's a pretty basic set up and a little cramped but the trade off is a sociable atmosphere and great location. Enkhee is from south Gobi and specialises in tours to this area.

One of the best reasons to stay at this wee guesthouse is the nice location opposite the Central Post Office and Sükhbaatar Square - about as central as you could possibly get. The entry area is very small, just big enough for a reception desk and computer. The room to the left is the main dorm with 10 beds. It has a TV and sitting area but there is no door so you really are just sleeping in an extension from the reception area. It's better to stay in the smaller, four-bed dorm which does have a door separating it from reception. A tiny kitchen is available and just one bathroom for the entire place. (If you can't handle sharing one bathroom between 14 people this might not be the place for you.) The English-speaking staff is friendly and helpful.

Author Tip

Sükhbaatar Square is a playground for kids on bikes and skates, young lovers holding hands and souvenir salesmen attempting to sell stacks of watercolours. Most Mongolians make a yearly pilgrimage to the Square for a family photo in front of Chinggis Khaan's statue. If you are in Ulaanbaatar during the Naadam festival, make sure you visit the Square on the first evening to enjoy an annual concert and fireworks display.
