Lonely Planet Review
This place has the makings of a great boutique hotel; it's compact, overlooks a park and is right around the corner from Sükhbaatar Sq. Sadly, it remains a neglected dinosaur from the Soviet-era, complete with worn-out carpets, torn furniture and dodgy plumbing. Still, the prices here are cheap enough to warrant staying if other options are full.
The entrance to the Örgöö is on a small lane just off Juulchin Gudamj, right behind the small Japanese Tea Garden, which itself is an attractive place to stroll. That is about where the quaintness comes to an end, as the interior of the hotel is rather drab. Everything here is old and worn out, but not so bad that the place is uninhabitable. If you can put up with the neglected state of affairs (and thin walls) you'll benefit from the central location and the bargain price. This counts for a lot, especially around Naadam when every hotel in the city is bursting at the seams.

Author Tip
It's unlikely that you'll want to spend a lot of leisure time in the Örgöö. Fortunately there is plenty to see in the area. A highlight is the National Museum of Mongolian History, located right across the street. The newly renovated museum provides Mongolian history in an A-Z format, and is particularly strong on the era of Chinggis Khaan.
