Quotes Don't waste this hotel on your mother (sorry, mum). Sumptuous fabrics, dark brooding damask walls, timber ceilings, luxurious bathrooms and beds that are asking for it mean you simply may not want to leave your room. It's perfect for stressed urbanites who want a chic escape.

The breakfast room feels more like a trendy bar, with lounge music and leather cube seats, and lit by an ambient Murano chandelier. The hotel's standard doubles are deluxe, but treat yourself and pick a themed room. The Doge's Room is a lavish feast of red damask walls, chandeliers and sconces and gilt mirrors. The Oriental Room is lighter, with original terrazzo alla Veneziana (Venitian marble) floor, blue and gold silk curtains and Oriental vases and furniture. The Sala Noire cloaks you in a swathe of chocolate and spice with black-glass chandelier, leather chairs, cocoa-coloured walls and gold fabric ceiling. If this isn't enough book a suite. The warm decor extends to the Moroccan terrace with rugs, hanging gold lanterns and banquette seating. On the ground floor there's a cosy sitting room and Internet point.

Stroll along the front of the church of the same name and you will find Ca Maria Adele on your left. From Venice Airport Marco Polo: take the boat connection "Alilaguna" to San Marco. Change with Route 1 Actv direction Piazzale Roma, disenbark at Salute. Stroll along the front of the church of the same name and you will find Ca Maria Adele on your left.

Da Piazzale Roma o dalla Stazione Santa Lucia Linea 1 Actv su vaporetto direzione San Marco, fermata Salute. Costeggiata di lato l'omonima Chiesa troverete Ca Maria Adele alla vostra sinistra. After all that self-indulgence you may feel the need to visit Longhena's vast Chiesa di Santa Maria della Salute, just opposite the hotel. A familiar Venetian landmark, this baroque masterpiece is bedecked with statues on the outside and artworks in its octagonal interior.

Curious Fact

In the breakfast room hangs a photograph of the largest chandelier in the world. The eight ladies in full evening dress underneath it demonstrate the piece's 8m diameter. You could count the 2600 lights but your eggs might get cold. The chandelier was made by the owners' grandfather.
