Set back from the appealing Campo San Barnaba and within easy reach of lively Campo Santa Margarita the Casa Rezzonico enjoys a quiet position by the side of a canal. The delightful rooms overlook either the water or the tempting rear garden.

As soon as you meet the very friendly Mattia (whose brother and co-owner is called Matteo, but this doesn't seem to have scarred him too much), you'll be pleased you picked this unaffected, homely place. Rooms are classically furnished with antiques and floors are parquet or terrazzo alla Veneziana (Venitian marble). Floral bedspreads that Cath Kidston would be proud of, lend the rooms a personal touch. No 4 is one of the nicest. With a red sofa, coordinating blooming bedspread, hand-painted flowers on the wooden headboard and a nice light bathroom (with window, which is unusual in Venice), this is the perfect place to rest your weary limbs after a long day of sightseeing. The generous garden which it overlooks is natural and un-manicured, and with only six rooms, you won't be jostling for sunbathing space.
