For lovers of theatre, this hotel will rank among the best in Vienna. Theatre memorabilia lines the hallways, stairwells and rooms, and Art Nouveau touches hark back to the days when the stage was all the rage.

Each of Theater-Hotel's 56 rooms are filled with dark-wood furniture and Art Nouveau picture panels, both of which are offset by pale-cream shading. Most are on the small side but a handful come with the added bonus of a small kitchen. What they all have in common is the theatre: each room is a dedication to one hero or another in the world of stage, with pictures and blurbs retelling the person's life story. Staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, not only about theatre in the capital, but also regarding Vienna's other cultural highlights. Theatre-Hotel also has many of the facilities its more modern counterparts offer, such as sauna, solarium, bar and cafe-restaurant, but, strangely, what it doesn't offer is discounted tickets for Theatre in der Josefstadt next door.
