Lonely Planet Review

Quotes Vientiane's first boutique resort brings the flavour of La Residence Phou Vao in Luang Prabang south to the capital. The striking rooms are elegantly decorated in traditional Lao style, but include all the features of a contemporary world class hotel. All rooms look on to the inviting swimming pool, surrounded by tropical gardens.

The whole resort is designed with Lao traditions in mind and the minimalist reception sets the tone for peace and tranquility, all high ceilings and low furnishings. The rooms are striking and feature the best in Lao textiles and handicrafts, as well as the latest technology, including wi-fi, electronic safety deposit box, and even digital scales to check what impact all the good Lao food is having on your weight. The Green Park looks set to make a name for itself as a luxury city retreat. Breakfast is included, plus there is a free airport shuttle service.

How To Get There

- About 15 mins by car from Int'l Airport to Hotel - Less than 15 mins walking distance to TALAD SAO (MORNING MARKET) Shopping Mall, Post office and Bus Station - Less than 10 mins by car to center

Author Tip

Check out the contrast between old and new down at Talat Sao, the Morning Market. The old, as always, is the chaotic market, a maze of passages and a treasure trove of handicrafts and textiles if you bargain hard. The new would be the Talat Sao Shopping Centre (currently under construction), bringing a taste of Thailand to the backwaters of Laos.
